Finding a Gift for a Loved One With Memory Impairment

November 08, 2023 by Karla A in Senior Living

We all like to bring our elderly parents or loved ones a gift to show them just how much we care about them. It is often hard to know what to give to a senior, and especially difficult if a loved one is suffering from dementia.  Experts suggest you help them find ways to reminisce about their lives and accomplishments, and give them things that will bring a smile to their face and some joy into their life.

Many ideas for someone with Alzheimer’s or dementia include personalized gifts.  One such gift is a talking photo book that allows you to record your own personal commentary to go along with each photograph.  This can be a fun book to sit and enjoy with your family member as it helps to trigger memories and conversation.  Many companies offer such books, and prices typically vary with the number of photos and recording time available.

Buying an interactive book featuring vivid photographs and large print on a subject your mom or dad loves such as animals or flowers can also promote conversation and provide a way to spend relaxing time together.  To ease stress or agitation, you may want to consider getting them a fiddle muff.  A fiddle muff can provide comfort and warmth as well as activity to promote increased hand flexibility and brain stimulation.

Another meaningful gift is a cozy, customized blanket filled with photos of the grandkids or a beloved family pet.  On the Internet you can find companies that will do a collage of family photos or a singular one in a variety of materials.  Many of the blankets have surprisingly sharp images and can be machined, washed and dried.

If the person has a hard time falling asleep or relaxing, calming visual and or audio stimulation may help.  Several companies have all-in-one cubes that offer a range of calming music and visual displays that can turn the ceiling into a beautiful night sky.

At MorningStar at Golden Ridge, our goal is to provide the best senior living in the area, which includes compassionate and loving care to those suffering from Alzheimer’s and other dementia-related diseases. The Reflections Neighborhood is meticulously designed to accommodate the special needs of memory care residents, allowing them as much independence as possible.  Each resident receives an individualized care plan and participants in a wide variety of wellness programs and purposeful activities including exercise, music, life skills, art, special celebrations and other events.   Please contact us or visit our website for more information.

The Importance of Healthy Nutrition for Seniors

November 03, 2023 by Karla A in Senior Living

As people age, many find their appetites have diminished or they suffer from physical or medical conditions that make eating more difficult.  Also, their metabolism slows down so they need fewer calories than before.  Therefore, the nutritional value found in the foods they do consume is more important than ever.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) advise that people over the age of 50 follow the USDA food recommendations, which should help keep older adults feeling more vital, and thus healthier.  They also point out the earlier you start eating a nutrient-rich diet, the more effective it will be later down the road.  Recommendations include a daily diet of fruits, vegetables, grains, protein foods, and dairy.  It also includes eating foods with healthy fats such as olives, nuts, and avocados.

MorningStar Senior Living at Golden Ridge is proud to offer our residents daily meals that are full of fresh ingredients from high quality producers.  Our delicious meals are prepared largely from scratch and consider seniors’ dietary restrictions.  We offer a range of choices including low sodium, sugar free, no sugar added, vegetarian and low fat that allows our residents to self-manage.  MorningStar’s food service is overseen by our own Executive Chef, who welcomes resident feedback and often tailors our menus per their suggestions.

MorningStar’s stylish Casitas and suites come in a range of floor plans including studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom configurations.  Amenities include a theater/chapel, fitness centers, bistro bar, library, swimming pool, salon, and more. In addition, we offer a range of wellness programs and activities designed to promote a healthy, engaged lifestyle. Please contact us or visit our website for more information about our independent living, assisted living, or memory care in Peoria, AZ.

Understanding Holistic Memory Care

October 25, 2023 by Karla A in Memory care

Unfortunately, there is still no cure for dementia or Alzheimer’s. This is why a memory loss diagnosis is so disheartening for families and patients. While some medications state to offer resolutions to some memory loss symptoms, the truth is that Alzheimer’s is not easily solved. However, there has been great success for senior living communities that utilize holistic memory care techniques in their care plans.

Understanding holistic memory care is the first step to giving your loved one struggling with Alzheimer’s or dementia the empathetic care they deserve. By utilizing different therapies, activities, foods, and social engagement, memory care teams promote holistic well-being for seniors impacted by memory loss.

What is Holistic Memory Care?

Trusted memory care communities, like MorningStar Senior Living in Beaverton, utilize holistic memory care methods to care for memory care patients.

Holistic memory care focuses on providing individualized and specialized care to each resident. Personalized care plans are highly personal and can be changed as time goes on. These plans are based on each resident’s interests, abilities, and desires.

Understanding each resident is crucial in memory care. Holistic memory care treatments encourage social and mental activities that combat negative memory loss symptoms. While medication is utilized and managed, holistic therapies can sometimes combat the need for medication altogether.

October 25, 2023 by Karla A in Memory care

Families battle with difficult emotions when a loved one is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or dementia. A memory loss diagnosis may lead families to consider new approaches to their loved one’s senior living care. To make an informed decision about your loved one’s care going forward, it is important to better understand memory care as a whole.

Keep reading to learn how MorningStar Senior Living has developed some of the most trusted memory care Arvada CO has to offer for seniors and their families.

What is Memory Care?

This is a more intensive form of senior living care, as individuals with a memory loss diagnosis will often need 24/7 care, medication management, help with everyday activities, and more supervision.

Finding the right memory care community for your loved one is extremely important. When searching for memory care near you, find senior living communities that provide a safe environment with structured activities that help seniors’ lives feel full and exciting. A senior memory care facility should be focused on managing memory loss symptoms holistically through proper care.

Activities and Therapies for Seniors with Memory Loss

October 23, 2023 by Karla A in Memory care

Are you considering memory loss treatment for an elderly parent or loved one struggling with Alzheimer’s or dementia? If a senior’s memory loss symptoms seem to be getting worse, it is probably time to consider memory care services available in Beaverton, Oregon. If you are unable to provide the care your loved one requires, trained professionals at MorningStar Senior Living are here to assist seniors and their families. These facilities provide memory care specific activities and therapies for seniors with Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Memory care assisted living at MorningStar Senior Living provides long-term care facilities specializing in memory services and holistic therapy for seniors in memory care. The following are the most popular memory care activities for seniors struggling with memory loss.

Animal Therapy

Inviting animals into senior care facilities is great fun for everyone in the community. Not only do fluffy and friendly animals make us smile, but animal therapy provides seniors in memory care extra benefits. Animal therapy reduces stress and promotes calm in seniors struggling with memory loss. Interacting with friendly animals reunites us with nostalgia and makes seniors feel safe.

Music Therapy

Music keeps us connected. Evidence suggests that music is deeply rooted in our conscious and unconscious brains. This makes music therapy a valuable memory care tool that relieves some of the effects of dementia in the brain. Setting aside a few hours to play music that seniors would have enjoyed in their youth is beneficial in bringing old memories to the surface.

Art Therapy

Art therapy for seniors in memory care cultivates emotional resilience, enhances social skills, and improves motor functions. These abilities usually diminish as memory loss and dementia progresses. At MorningStar Memory Care Arvada Co, our community offers a mix of art therapy and other creative activities that stimulate the mind, body, and spirit through a holistic approach.

Memory Care Tips for Weather Change

October 23, 2023 by Karla A in Memory care

With colder weather approaching, seniors struggling with Alzheimer’s or Dementia in memory care communities may experience issues related to their diagnosis when the weather changes. Increased social isolation and loneliness is a major concern for families with a loved one who has Dementia. In colder temperatures, similar to extreme heat, family members and friends may slow their visitations.

Seniors with dementia may also have difficulty preparing themselves for the change in temperature. If they venture out of their home alone during winter, they may forget to wear proper clothing to protect themselves against the cold, ice, and snow. Memory Care communities, like MorningStar Senior Living, offer the safest memory care Arvada co has to offer, ensuring that seniors with dementia are kept healthy and happy.

Plan Trips During Winter Vacations

For families with children, it may be difficult to visit relatives struggling with memory loss in their memory care community. While these are active and engaging memory care communities, seniors still want to see family and familiar faces.

Planning trips to visit these loved ones during the children’s winter holiday ensures that seniors experience excitement when the weather changes. Because of cold temperatures, individuals in memory care may be limited to staying indoors. Bringing the family to visit during these times is a great remedy for feelings of social isolation and loneliness.

Indoor Activities

As stated above, memory care residents are often sequestered indoors during the winter to avoid falls and frostbite. When outdoor activities are limited, bringing festive activities indoors keeps seniors active and social while limiting any shock from changing temperatures. Preparing exciting activities during winter months keeps seniors in memory care excited. Memory Care communities, like MorningStar Senior Living, work hard to offer the most engaging memory care Arvada co has to offer, ensuring that seniors with dementia are kept healthy and happy during changes in weather.

Myths and Facts About Arthritis

October 23, 2023 by Karla A in Assisted Living

In an article in Medical News Today experts discuss some of the common myths and facts regarding arthritis, a condition that causes pain and inflammation in joints. Osteoarthritis (OA) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) are the two main types of arthritis, and a national survey found nearly half of adults 65 years and older have been diagnosed with arthritis. OA, the most common form and leading cause of disability in older adults, is the result of cartilage between the bones in a joint wearing down.

Many people believe arthritis is only a disease of the elderly but RA, while not as common as OA, typically starts in individuals as young as 20 to 40 years old. People also mistakenly think if a joint hurts, it must be arthritis. Doctors say there are several reasons a person may experience pain in and around joints including old injuries, bursitis, and tendinitis.

Another myth is you shouldn’t exercise if you have arthritis; however, studies show exercise can actually help with range of motion and strength in the joint (consult with your healthcare provider before starting any new exercise or activity). The American College of Rheumatology says, “Exercise and arthritis can and should coexist. People with arthritis who exercise regularly have less pain, more energy, improved sleep, and better day-to-day function.”

Then there is the debate on whether heat is better than ice for sore joints. The Guy’s and St Thomas’s National Health Service (NHS) Foundation Trust in the UK, explains, “Used in the right way, heat can help reduce pain and stiffness in joints and muscles. Cold application can help reduce joint inflammation and swelling.” Moreover, experts say believing arthritis is unpreventable is only partially true as there are things people can do to mitigate risk or slow down the progression such as maintaining a healthy body weight.

The Benefits of Walking for Exercise

October 20, 2023 by Karla A in Memory care

The former director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Dr. Thomas Frieden, is quoted as saying that walking is “the closest thing we have to a wonder drug.” Many in the medical profession agree. While it is universally acknowledged that any exercise is beneficial to our overall health, walking offers some unexpected advantages.

A study from a group of Harvard scientists concluded that walking seems to counteract the effects of weight-promoting genes. The project involved looking at “32 obesity-promoting genes in over 12,000 people to determine how much the genes actually contribute to body weight.” Within the group of participants who walked briskly for an hour a day, researchers found the effects of the weight-promoting genes were cut in half.

Another surprising result of walking is it was shown to actually diminish a person’s sweet tooth. In a study out of the University of Exeter, researchers found walking appears to curb cravings for chocolate and other sugary treats. Their study showed even 15 minutes of walking a day could reduce the habit of eating sweets when stressed.

While doctors recognize any physical exercise is beneficial to reducing the risk of breast cancer, an American Cancer Society study found women who walked seven or more hours a week “had a 14% lower risk of breast cancer than those who walked three hours or fewer per week.” Researchers say walking helped decrease a woman’s risk for breast cancer even when she had an increased risk due to obesity or supplemental hormones. Other studies show walking helps to reduce joint pain and lubricates and strengthens muscles as well as boost the immune system.

Tips for Communicating With Those Suffering From Dementia

October 18, 2023 by Karla A in Memory care

The Alzheimer’s Association has some effective tips for communicating with a loved one suffering from Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia.  As the ability to find the right words or to speak at all is one of the effects of the devastating disease, it is helpful to learn some tips to make the communication process easier.

Typically, in the early stages of the disease, individuals repeat themselves often and can easily lose their train of thought.  They may start to avoid speaking and have trouble following a conversation, and may even use gestures rather than words.  Experts suggest at this stage that you make sure to address the person directly, don’t speak through a caregiver, and allow them plenty of time to answer you back.

The middle stages of the disease can signal lots of changes and usually lasts the longest.  If you wish to speak with the individual, make sure to do it in a quiet space without any distractions.  Your questions should be short and only require a simple yes or no answer, and again, look directly at the person.  In addition, you can demonstrate the task or give clear, step-by-step instructions.  Also, use a soft voice and calm demeanor, and above all else, be patient and loving.

In the late stages of the disease, which can last from a few weeks to several years, the Alzheimer’s Association suggests using nonverbal forms of communication.  When entering the person’s presence, always identify yourself and use the sound of your voice to convey the meaning of your words.  Experts recommend using touch, sight, sound, smell and taste to communicate, and as always, treat the individual with respect and dignity.

Along with independent and assisted living, MorningStar at Golden Ridge provides specialized care for those with Alzheimer’s and other dementia-related diseases.  Every aspect of our community is tailored to serve the needs of our special residents from purposeful activities to nutritional, easy-to-eat foods.  Please visit our website for more information about loving memory care in Peoria, AZ.

Senior Living Communities Offer a Broad Range of Services and Amenities

October 16, 2023 by Karla A in Assisted Living

As it turns out, many seniors are quite happy with their decision to move into an independent or assisted living community.  In part, that may be since many of today’s senior communities are loaded with numerous amenities and activities.   As a resident, you are provided with a lifestyle of comfort and community as well as a sense of safety and security.  Here are some of the many benefits:

  • When seniors move out of their family home into a senior community, they find themselves freed from lots of responsibilities.  Owning a home requires routine care and maintenance such as yard work and other housekeeping chores.

  • Seniors often live alone and experience feelings of loneliness and isolation.  Also, as people age, many are reluctant to drive, which means they end up spending a lot of time at home by themselves.  This is something that is not a problem in senior communities.  While activities are optional, there is generally something of interest for everyone.

  • For seniors who do not drive anymore, senior communities usually offer some form of transportation.  In addition, many routinely schedule day trips to activities such as plays, museums, shopping or other events.

  • We also know that many seniors who live alone do not eat well.  In some cases, grocery shopping and preparing food has become difficult.  Many senior communities make healthy, nutritious food a priority and offer choices such as low sodium, no sugar added etc.

  • As an assisted living resident, you will receive help with activities of daily living (ADLs) to provide a better quality of life. Around-the-clock care managers, access to licensed nurses and medication management are just a few of the many services senior communities provide to ensure your safety and to meet your needs.

  • Finally, we cannot forget the importance of socializing and making new friends at any age.  Even for individuals who value their privacy, there is still the comfort of having other people around.  If the event of a fall or medical emergency, help is always close at hand.

At MorningStar at Golden Ridge in Peoria, AZ, we provide all this and more. Our broad range of services and amenities include all-day dining, life enrichment rooms, theater, fitness centers, library, swimming pool, wellness programs and activities to promote a healthy, engaged lifestyle for residents. It’s Important for Seniors to Keep Exercising

October 13, 2023 by Karla A in Assisted Living

Not only is physical exercise good for our heart and cognitive health but it can help older adults stay steady on their feet. Studies show regular physical activity can reduce the risk of falls in older adults at a high risk of falling by nearly one third.

Experts explain certain kinds of exercise helps increase muscle mass and bone strength as well as improve balance and coordination, fight off osteoporosis, and reduce the risk for fractures and broken bones. Some of the best exercises are known as weight-bearing, which require a person to carry their weight and work against gravity. Examples include walking, dancing, hiking, climbing stairs, jogging and playing tennis or basketball. Doctors say if you can manage it, increasing your pace during aerobics, jogging and power walking make the exercises even more effective at strengthening bone density.

Resistance exercises also work against gravity and help build muscle mass and improve bone strength. Strength training with weights, weight machines or resistance bands are all examples of exercises that rely on muscle contractions that tug on bones to stimulate them to bulk up. Along the same line, impact exercises such as jumping jacks and walking or running uphill have been shown to improve bone density fairly quickly.

Healthcare providers say to be sure to check with your doctor before starting any new exercise program, especially if you’re taking medications that slow your coordination or throw off your balance. According to the Surgeon General, your optimal goal should be at least 30 minutes of physical activity on most days, preferably daily.

For those of you looking for luxury independent living or assisted living, we encourage you to consider MorningStar at Golden Ridge. We make it easy to exercise with a fitness center and saline swimming pool along with a variety of wellness programs to keep you moving. A Fall Can Result in Serious Injuries

October 11, 2023 by Karla A in Senior Living

A fall can result in serious injuries especially for the elderly, who make up most cases, and can take a long time to heal.  Many even lead to permanent mobility issues that limit the person’s freedom.  The CDC reports that each year 3 million older adults are treated in the emergency room for a fall injury and over 800,000 patients are hospitalized due to their injuries.

Experts explain there are several reasons why the elderly are more vulnerable to falling and include medical conditions such as Parkinson’s and heart disease, arthritis, osteoporosis, hypoglycemia, diabetes, and blood pressure fluctuations.  In addition, physical disabilities that affect strength and balance, poor eyesight, inner ear problems, and dehydration can also put a person more at risk for a fall.  Common situations that can result in a fall include wet or recently polished floors, poorly lit areas, rugs not properly secured, stairs, and uneven sidewalks.

There are some changes you can make to fall-proof your home such replacing light bulbs in dimly lit hallways or stairways with higher wattage bulbs.  Clean up clutter and make sure each room in your home has a clear, clean path to walk through and install grab bars and handrails where needed.  Use a non-slip mat in the bathtub or shower and do not wear socks or loose, floppy slippers but rather a good walking shoe with support and cushioning.

If a loved one is unsteady on their feet, talk to their doctor about using a walker or cane.  Also, ask if any of their medications can cause dizziness or light-headedness, and if so, is there an alternative.  Doctors say if not, it is even more important to make the appropriate lifestyle changes.

Having Difficulty With Daily Activities Effects Quality of Life

October 09, 2023 by Karla A in Assisted Living

Most seniors wish to maintain their independence as long as possible by living on their own; and that is why many who encounter problems in their day-to-day lives are reluctant to tell their families. The problem with this is as a senior starts to have more difficulty caring for themselves, their quality of life can be greatly diminished.

Even if mom or dad seem to be doing well on their own, experts say a rapid decline in their health from an accident or illness can catch families by surprise and make living on their own dangerous. In addition, many health conditions affect musculoskeletal, neurological, circulatory or sensory systems and impact a senior’s ability to perform the activities of daily living (ADLs). Experts say other factors indicating a need for more help include social isolation, medication side effects and the physical characteristics of the person’s home such as a second-floor bedroom. If after implementing a series of home modifications is not adequate, more measures need to be taken to keep your loved one safe.

Experts explain unmet ADLs can lead to serious health problems including “malnutrition, poor personal hygiene, isolation, illnesses like urinary tract infections (UTIs) and falls. In fact, studies show ADL disabilities are associated with an increased risk for mortality; and taking care of daily needs can help prevent new and worsening health issues.” They also report if family members notice a decline in a loved one’s overall health, taking steps now can improve their safety and forestall further problems. One solution is to make a move to an assisted living community, where a person can live as safely and as independently as possible. To ensure needs are met, homes use the ADLs as a measure of a person’s functional performance.

At MorningStar at Golden Ridge, we provide carefree retirement years. From healthy daily meals to wellness programs and activities, we have a whole range of services and amenities to ensure residents comfort and wellbeing.  Our care services include care managers, access to licensed nurses, and medication care managers.  Please contact us or visit our website for more information about luxury assisted living in Peoria, AZ.

Medicare and Assisted Living

September 25, 2023 by Karla A in Assisted Living

Most seniors will require some type of long-term assisted living as they get older. Assisted living benefits seniors who need extra help completing tasks, chores, and errands for themselves. Having a full-time caretaker may only be possible for some. This is why assisted living communities provide 24/7 care for seniors needing medication management, health monitoring, and daily check-ins.

The downside is that Medicare does not usually cover assisted living communities and their costs. However, other financial options may benefit families looking for assisted living options.

Long Term Care Insurance

Long-term care insurance helps pay for senior care and protect personal assets by covering expenses up to the amounts outlined in the policy. Long term care insurance pays for various services in senior communities and can offer care options that may not be covered through Medicare and Medicaid. A long term care insurance policy also helps with the costs of care for seniors with a chronic medical condition or disability.

Selling a Home

The equity built up in a private home is typically a retiree’s most significant asset, making the proceeds from selling extremely helpful when transitioning to a senior community. However, selling a home quickly can be challenging and time-consuming. This is especially true when adult children are not living nearby to assist.

Financial Services

There are still options for senior care without using Medicare. Financial resources are available beyond retirement savings and investments when paying for assisted living. To help you explore options, MorningStar has partnered with Elderlife Financial Services, whose agents offer education on the financial resources potentially open to you in paying for independent living, assisted living, or memory care.

Food and Dementia: How To Handle Changes in Eating Habits

September 25, 2023 by Karla A in Memory care

A senior diagnosed with dementia or Alzheimer’s may experience changes in food preferences and typical eating habits. More serious concerns can arise around eating too, such as forgetting to eat all together or refusing to chew and swallow.

Eating can become difficult for an individual with dementia. In memory care, a senior receives individualized and specialized care plans that account for changes in eating behaviors. With 24/7 on-site care, trusted memory care professionals, and dementia-friendly programs and activities, you will find the most trusted memory care Arvada offers at MorningStar Senior Living.

Loss of Appetite

A senior with Dementia may often tell you they are full when they haven’t eaten for hours. Because of their diagnosis, their body is not telling them they’re hungry. This is extremely dangerous for seniors who live alone. For seniors who struggle with eating regular meals, finding the most reliable assisted living Arvada offers is crucial.

Textures may also impact a seniors appetite. Bananas, avocados, mushrooms, and other thick, slimy textures may no longer be appealing to a senior struggling with dementia. Not only this, but a senior may despise foods they thoroughly enjoyed. If they were huge fans of steak prior to their diagnosis, they may no longer be able to tolerate the texture. With trial and error, you can find foods they enjoy again.

Encourage Small Meals

Seniors struggling with Alzheimer’s in memory care may no longer be able to eat three large meals a day like they used to. Breaking large meals into multiple snacks throughout the day is the best way to make sure seniors in memory care are eating regularly. For breakfast, offer something small that they typically enjoy. Then, continue to offer options to them throughout the day, while monitoring how much is eaten.

A Key Communication Strategy for Dementia

September 22, 2023 by Karla A in Assisted Living

A dementia diagnosis for a senior loved one or parent is disheartening. You will be on a journey of new battles and challenges, but hopefully, you will still find ways to appreciate what is still possible while on this new path with your loved one.

A challenging aspect of dementia and Alzheimer’s is adjusting to new communication methods. Barriers in communication due to dementia can make caring for your loved one with Alzheimer’s difficult. You may feel like you’re doing more harm than good. MorningStar’s Assisted Living and Memory Care Arvada Co offers a key communication strategy for dementia to help maintain your relationship with your loved one while seeking memory care near you.

Alzheimer’s is a disease that progresses differently for each person diagnosed. Since dementia and Alzheimer’s present differently in every person, this means communication methods will vary. Alzheimer’s can also be a progressive disease that can become more disintegrating as time goes on which worsens symptoms and behaviors. These changes tend to lead to a lot of stress and frustration for your loved one, and for you as well.

Ask your parents with Alzheimer’s or dementia in memory care to show you how to do things. This can be any simple task. If you are being met with frustration about taking medication, bathing, or eating, simply ask the individual to show you how to do it. The key is pretending like you need help or that you’ve forgotten how to complete the task for yourself.

Seniors, especially those struggling with dementia in memory care, continue to seek out independence and autonomy. While they may not be able to complete all the tasks they once could on their own, they still want to feel helpful. At MorningStar, you will find the most modern memory care Arvada Co has to offer for seniors needing memory care.

Making the Move to a Senior Community

September 15, 2023 by Karla A in Senior Living

If you are moving from your own home into a senior living community, most likely you will want to downsize. While it can sound overwhelming to go through a whole household of stuff and whittle it down to fit into a modest sized apartment, a few tips will help.

Without question it is a lot of work and can be stressful and emotional but the Internet offers useful information from organizing experts. Most say the trick is to prepare in advance by making a plan and allowing plenty of time. Remember, if you are interested, there are companies who offer these services and will do everything from helping with the downsizing process to packing up, and moving your things to your new home.

Now you are ready for the sorting out process deciding what you will bring and what to give to family, donate, or throw away. This is the hardest task as your house is full of memories but again here is where a system works. Experts say sort by rooms and simplify the task by making a “yes” pile and a “no” pile. They warn not to make a “maybe” pile as it can end up growing in size and complicate your plan. Again, remember the goal is to simplify your life and not overcrowd the new place with useless items.

Things to consider are the size of your new place and its layout (get measurements). You will want furniture scaled to fit as well as room for hobbies or musical instruments that are important to you. Also consider the amenities your new place offers such as a dining service. If most of your meals will be prepared by your new community, you will just need the basics in your kitchen. If the new place has a fitness center, there is no need to bring your own equipment.

MorningStar at Golden Ridge is an independent and assisted living community that offers a vibrant, active lifestyle. Residents enjoy carefree retirement years as we handle the maintenance and provide onsite luxury amenities, care services and a community of friends.
